INDIA: Julie's travels in India consisted of sketch book work - drawing and sketching scenes whenever she was able to. This was an easy and unobtrusive way of creating a diary of images that she could later create paintings from.
NEPAL: Julie's time in Nepal offered amazing light looking up to the vastness of the Himalayas from the Annapurna circuit, with some wonderful, rusty coloured skies which inspired her use of rust to paint on.
SRI LANKA: Julie spent six months painting in Sri Lanka. The sweltering temperature proved to be a challenging environment in which to paint. Here, she created works depicting the contrast between the extreme heat on land and the cool skies, especially across the ocean.
